New releases drop as open letter asks ‘Where is the $100 million going?’

Pi Network marked Pi2Day 2026 with a series of product launches. These were designed to expand the ecosystem beyond cryptocurrency into artificial intelligence (AI), decentralized computing and digital identity.

The latest announcements highlight the project’s growing emphasis on practical utility. These announcements include new services for developers, businesses, and users outside of the existing Pi ecosystem.

Happy Pi2Day 2026 Pioneers!

Pi Network is celebrating Pi2Day with new releases advancing the practical utility of Pi both within and beyond the Pi ecosystem, as well as across compute, AI, and identity.

Here are the main announcements from Pi Network!

SoloHost brings decentralized AI computing

One of the biggest announcements was the launch of the SoloHost beta. This platform is available through Pi Desktop and allows users and developers to run self-hosted applications directly from their own computer.

A key feature is support for local AI agents. This feature allows users to process data on their personal devices instead of relying on centralized cloud servers. Pi Network also said that SoloHost should eventually support distributed computing powered by its network of more than 420,000 Pi nodes. As a result, this could create a decentralized infrastructure for AI workloads.

Developers will be able to publish apps through an open, permissionless process. Meanwhile, node resource operators could earn Pi by contributing to computing in the future.

Pi connection and PiVerify Expand utility

Pi Network also introduced Pi Sign-in, a new authentication solution that allows users to access third-party websites and applications using their Pi accounts. This feature eliminates the need for separate usernames and passwords. At the same time, it gives developers access to the Pi community of over 18 million KYC-verified users. It should also make access to locally hosted AI applications across devices more seamless.

Another notable launch was PiVerify, an identity verification platform for businesses. The service combines AI-based verification with human review to provide document verification, activity detection, sanctions screening, anti-money laundering (AML) checks and duplicate account detection. Businesses using the platform will pay for verification services in Pi. This could potentially create additional demand and utility for the token.

Analyst calls for greater transparency

Although Pi2Day’s announcements were well received by many in the community, Pi Network community analyst Dr. Altcoin argued that the project still needs to be delivered faster.

In an open letter to Pi Network co-founders Nicolas Kokkalis and Chengdiao Fan, the analyst said that besides AI Studio, many newly announced products could have been launched years earlier. He also questioned how the $100 million Pi Foundation fund was allocated. The analyst said he has yet to see significant financial support coming to community developers.

According to the analyst, increased transparency, a stronger funding ecosystem and faster execution will be key to maintaining community trust. This will be important as Pi Network strives to establish itself as an infrastructure for AI, digital identity, and decentralized computing.
