According to the official Sui network status page, the blockchain is facing a “major outage” as it has stopped processing user transactions. The Sui team explained that the latest dropout is related to the correction of the first dropout and a problem that appeared during the epoch change.
Key points to remember:
- Sui went down for the third time in 2 days, disrupting the market as the core team then works on a long-term solution.
- The cause appears to be the new stablecoin’s fee-free transaction logic, which had design flaws.
- Sui shut down again at 4:30 p.m. EDT, freezing user transactions as it investigated issues with the epoch change.
Sui falls for the third time
Sui, a high-performance blockchain, experienced issues with its network activity for the third time in two days.
Sui’s official status page indicated that the network stopped processing transactions at 7:58 a.m. EDT, completely affecting network operation.
The Sui team acknowledged this issue on social media, stating that their main network was experiencing a “network hang” and they were looking for a solution. “Please be aware that transactions may be suspended at this time. Updates will be shared as they become available,” they posted.
As of 11:34 a.m. EDT, the network was processing transactions again, with the Sui team explaining that today’s and yesterday’s issues were related to “gas charging logic” changes that the blockchain recently applied to make stablecoin transactions free.
“The fix implemented yesterday was an interim measure designed to restore network functionality while the Sui Core team worked on a long-term solution. The interim fix presented a known issue with a low probability of causing an outage. This morning, the network experienced a variation of the known issue and shut down.” » explained Sui, noting that network activity had resumed.
User “A hacker probably opened short positions in advance, just to bring Sui down,” he said.
Additionally, he believes that the solution to the problems was coded by AI and applied. “For such a large project, they should not rely entirely on AI. They should use multiple AI models for batch detection and then do final manual validation before submission.” he recommended.
However, around 4:30 p.m. EDT, Sui encountered another issue that prevented transactions from being processed. Sui linked it to a problem during epoch change, as validators were creating system transactions but ignoring user transactions. “The Sui Core team is investigating and updates will be shared as soon as they become available.” he concluded.
